European nations recognized dance as an organized sport in the early 1920s. DanceSports was only acknowledged and reached its popularity in 2005 when it became part of the official event in the Southeast Asian Games hosted by the Philippines. In BPSU, however, though not part of the curriculum, DanceSport has been a competition joined by BPSU dancers for years. To note, the BPSU DanceSport Team has won numerous awards in the field. Meanwhile, although universities and colleges have long been engaged in DanceSport, any study related to issues and challenges about the implementation of DanceSport has been never been conducted yet. Hence, this research filled the gap. Narratology or narrative inquiry was used as an approach in this qualitative study. Interviews were conducted to understand the DanceSport journeys of the 10 participants who agreed to be part of the study. The study uncovered the state of DanceSport in BPSU and identified and discussed the issues and challenges that the university has in the implementation of DanceSport. Results suggested that despite the awards and recognition, the DanceSport team in BPSU achieved, they still faced issues and challenges that affected the implementation of DanceSport in the university. Among the issues and challenges were conflicted on the dancers' schedules, need for more skilled dancers, problems about shoes and facilities, particularly venue to practice, and support from the teachers. The results implied that after a careful study and understanding, the implementation of the BPSU DanceSport program needs considerable thinking and review for improvements to guarantee its success.
