One of students' characteristics which play an important role in learning mathematics is logical-mathematical intelligence. Twenty-first century education demands learner to have critical thinking skills. In order for students to gauge critical thinking skills, they must exhibit logical-mathematical intelligence. In the present educational setting where the researcher is part of, so with such apprehensions in mind, the researcher delved on the relationship of the logical-mathematical intelligence and mathematical functioning of Junior High school students. The researcher identified the desired sample size to be one hundred eighty-two (182) respectively. In collecting pertinent data, the researcher used two standardized test questionnaires. The first tool is the Raven Standard Progressive Matrices and the second data gathering tool is the Numeracy Test. Among the 182 participants, they were described as intellectually average as far their Logical-Mathematical Intelligence is concerned. On the level of numeracy of the Respondents, in general, the respondents were considered numerates. On Grade Point Average of the Respondents in Mathematics almost half of the respondents had a grade between 85 to 89 and were considered very satisfactory. Correlation and regression analyses were conducted to examine the relationship between the logical mathematics intelligence of the respondents with that of their mathematical functioning in terms of level of numerate. The results indicated that there exist a significant positive correlation between the logical-mathematics intelligence and mathematical functioning. Since there's a significant positive correlation between Logical-Mathematical Intelligence and Mathematical Functioning of the respondents. On the basis of this data it can be stated that students having high level of "Logical-Mathematical Intelligence" can function and perform well in their mathematics course. Hereafter teachers must be aware of the level of logical-mathematical intelligence a student has. The data and the result of this study can be a basis to improve the teaching effectiveness of the educators and as well for the improvement of the students. Intelligence programs in mathematics must also be considered an appropriate device for the improvement of students' logical-mathematical intelligence.
