Summary, etc. The study aimed to provide information on the determinants of research productivity of selected States Universities and Colleges in Region III during the Academic Year 2012-2013. The results of the study would serve as basis in the design and formulation of sustainable development program to enhance the research productivity of higher educational institutions. The study involved selected SUC's in Region III. Specifically, the respondents of the study were composed of Research directors, Faculty researchers and Research staffs of each of the following participants SUC's : Bulacan State University (BulSU) in Malolos City, Bulacan ; Ramon Magsaysay Technological University (RMTU) in Iba, Zambales ; Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) in Balanga City, Bataan; Nueva Ecija and Tarlac College of Agriculture (TCA) in Camiling, Tarlac. Researchers conducted by school respondents from 2008 to 2011 were considered in the study to oversee how far these SUCs have gone through in research for the past four (4) years. A validated self-made questionnaire was administered to the respondents to measure the research productivity of selected SUC's in Region III. The research culture covered the services offered, research climate and administrative support. Descriptive method was utilized to gather pertinent data and information that determined the research productivity of selected State University and College in Region III. Research productivity of the respondents SUC's was examined in terms of the following: number of output published, number of journal articles published, number of modules published, number of papers presented to conferences/fora in international level, national level, regional level and local level, number of completed research projects, number of grants received, number of patented researches, number of recognition/awards received and number of technology transferred to extension services. The data collected through the questionnaire were tabulated and analyzed with the use of the following statistical tools: frequencies, percentage and mean. Comparative analysis of the perceptions of respondents on research culture of SUC's was carried out using independent sample T-test. The relationships between independent variables and dependent variables were analyzed using Chi-square T-tests. The data were processed through Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software. The study found that the data do not provide sufficient evidence that faculty researchers and research staff differ in perception on research productivity of SUC's. It was found that age group, civil status and years in teaching are significantly related to research productivity. Having national, regional and local training/seminars were also found to be associated with research productivity. The findings do not prove that there is a relationship between research culture and research productivity. Based on the findings of the study the following conclusion were drawn: the null hypothesis that there is no significant difference on perceptions of the group of respondents and the research productivity SUC's was accepted; the null hypothesis that there is no significant relationship between the faculty and staff profile and the research productivity of SUC's was partially upheld; the null hypothesis there is no significant relationship between the research culture and the research productivity of SUC's was accepted and the null hypothesis that there is no significant relationship between the Research and Development Office-Related factors and the research productivity of SUC's was partially upheld. In view of the foregoing conclusions, the following recommendations are offered: The university should encourage and motivate promising individuals to conduct world class researches. The idea that research is only an additional rather than an integral function of higher education institutions should be eliminated. Age, civil status and years of teaching experience should be taken into consideration by the selection and promotion board of the university in hiring new faculty members. Further, research capability training should be more extensively and intensively implemented by the university. The faculty should be given an opportunity to attend national and regional training/seminars related to research. Policy makers should develop guidelines for policy dissemination and implementation concerning research. Institutional strategies and plans are very important for the management and development of research-related activities. Cognizant to this is the institutional office in the higher education institutions need to be reinforced. The result of the study may provide evidence that research culture is an important contributing factor to research productivity. Moreover, universities and colleges that are serious in transforming themselves into research institutions have to look at the elements of research culture that contribute to research productivity. Finally, based on the findings of the study, a sustainable development program should be designed, formulated and implemented to enhance the research productivity of SUC's.
