| Summary, etc. | Work-life balance is an important aspect that is considered by organizations that strive to promote both satisfaction and productivity in the workplace. This balance is commonly assumed to exist when there is an overall sense of balance in the life of an individual. The present study aimed to explore the subjective preference of school leaders in terms of work-life balance. Using the Q-sort methodology and a Q-sample with 40 statements extracted from literature, conversation, and observation, the study asked a group of school leaders selected using purposive sampling, to arrange the statements into a grid based on their relevance to their experiences or insights. The principal component analysis was used to extract the factors. Varimax was used to rotate five factors which all demonstrated high eigenvalues, small correlations with each other, and high-reliability coefficients. Factor A represents the group of participants who place high importance on spiritual wellness and family but were less focused on work as they tend to work smarter, not harder, and thus designate tasks to staff. Factor B is for school leaders who are very workaholic, but they placed family as a second priority and had very less time to be with friends. On the other hand, Factor C is for school leaders who are very spiritual and who put their work next but have less time for family. Factor D is for the leaders who are also workaholics, but they have the time and awareness for their physical health and less regard for their spiritual being. Finally, Factor E is for school leaders who have to maintain equal focus on work and spiritual wellness but with very little regard for family and physical fitness. It was further concluded that the school leaders are workaholics with spiritual well-being keeping all aspects in balance. |
