Respondents of the study were 2616 sports personnel and student athletes from SUCs in Region III. From their answers to the distributed questionnaire were the following findings in terms of person-related factors: majority, of the respondents were thirty to thirty-four years old, males, one to four years in service and years in their chosen sports, had baccalaureate degree, license and had seminars in physical education. In terms of sport management skills, sports personnel were found to be satisfactory in human, technical and conceptual skills. In the level of effectiveness of sports development viii program of SUCs in terms of attainment of goals and objectives, extent of implementation of sports activities, awards and recognition received and sustainability of training programs as perceived by sports personnel. Respondents were most satisfied with attainment of goals and objectives and sustainability of training program and least on awards and recognition received. Among personnel-related factors, only years in sports and sports management skills had significant relationship with sports developments program in SUCs with having license only significant with extent of implementation of activities while age, years in service, sex, highest educational attainment , seminars and trainings attended did not have any significant relationship. University-relatedfactors; however, had a high correlation with the sports development programs of SUCs with adequacy of sports facilities and equipment most related to sports development programs and administrative support with the weakest relationship with it. With the findings, the researcher proposed further study and implementation of the sports development impact assessment tool as instrument for further improvement of SUCs sports development programs. It was also recommended that proper intervention programs be planned to be carried out by sports personnel with the help of the local government units to maximize participation of the student athletes in the sports arena. |
