Summary, etc. The study aimed to assess the status of the Balanga City Public Market towards its modernization. Specifically, the variables under study involved the profile of the public market vendors and were described in terms of age, sex, highest educational attainment, length of time as lessee, monthly income, and section in the market. The modernization of the Balanga City Public Market was determined as perceived by the market vendors in terms of organization and management, scope of facilities and services, and quality of facilities and services. With reference to the said variables, the status of the Balanga City Public Market was identified and evaluated and the impact on the vendors was also covered. The corresponding implications were determined and with the outcome of the study the commitment to provide better service, continuous improvement of facilities and services, and longer terms of contract were recommended. Concurrent triangulation was used in the study to cover both the quantitative and qualitative aspects of the study. Survey questionnaires designed by the researcher were used as the main instrument in data gathering. Statistical tools such as frequency count, percentage, mean, standard deviation, rank, T-test and ANOVA were employed in the study. The study revolved on the perception of public market vendors on the status of modernization of Balanga City Public Market and delimited on the aspect of organization and management, on the scope of facilities and services, and on the quality of facilities and services. The respondents composed of 255 public market vendors in the City of Balanga. Quantitative and qualitative questionnaires designed by the researcher were used as the main instrument in data gathering. In the analysis and interpretation of data, frequency count and percentage were employed for descriptive measures to describe profile of the respondents. Moreover, mean and standard deviation with corresponding descriptive equivalent were utilized to present the observation of respondents on the modernization of the Balanga City Public Market. In finding out the difference on the on the perceptions of vendors according to profile, the mean, standard deviation, T-test and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) were employed. To know the implications of modernization of Balanga Public Market to vendors, the mean, standard deviation, and rank were also applied. As a whole, the modernization of Balanga City Public Market was described by the respondents as "Mostly Observed" while experts in general perceived the market as modern but still look for some additions and betterment. There was a significant difference in the perceived modernization of Balanga City Public Market on the organization and management when grouped according to sex, highest educational attainment, and length of time as lessee. On the quality of facilities and services, there was a significant difference in the perceived modernization of the Balanga City Public Market in all of the profile of the respondents except for the monthly income in the market. As to the scope of facilities and services, there was no significant difference in the perceived modernization of the Balanga City Public Market when grouped according to profile. With respect to the qualitative aspect of the study, respondents consider the Balanga City Public Market as modern but still look for some additions and betterment. It is recommended that the City Government continue in providing better facilities and services in the Balanga City Public Market. Likewise, lease contracts for vending in the public market should be lengthen in order to assure continuity of lease and guarantee income to the City Government. Moreover, the City Government should find ways to improve and keep the public market lively for the whole day to provide more satisfaction to the vendors. As the modernization in the public market are mostly observed and appreciated by the vendors, the City Government should continue in finding ways to make it better through additions, renovations and improvements that will answer the needs of the public market vendors, boost their satisfaction and ensure their stay in the public market.
