Material type: TextSeries: Publication details: Balanga City : BPSU, 2020.Description: ix, 144 pp. ; 28 cmSubject(s): Summary: Coaching, in sports as well as in other disciplines, is an arduous process. Aside from the regular teaching load, some teachers in the public schools are designated as coaches to train athletes in the field of Arnis. It became a point of interest to explore this phenomenon by engaging with the teacher-coaches. The study adopted a qualitative research methodology aimed at developing an in-depth understanding of the participants' narratives of their experience as a teacher-coach at Arnis. Nine teacher-coaches participated in the study. It was found that teacher-coaches of Arnis failed to perform their full function because of some untoward experiences that hinder their potentials as teacher-coach. The problems raised by the participants can be solved through training sessions, conferences, workshops, seminars, symposia and tournaments with a view to improving teachers' awareness of the latest developments in the field of sport and education, allowing them to update the latest concepts needed for professional growth. It is also concluded that there should be a balance between teaching, coaching and personal life. The study recommended that teacher-coaches must undergo sports psychology and that local government should allocate more funds for the trainings and development of Arnis coaches.Item type | Current library | Call number | Status | Date due | Barcode | |
