Group dynamics is a practical discipline in which researchers enter various groups, or collectivities, such as organizations and communities, and improve or transform them through collaboration with people working or living there. This book is not just for students or researchers who are interested in the discipline but also for practitioners who want to change various field sites. The backbone of this book is premised on the idea of social construction, that is, we persistently go with a concept of group. We are usually convinced that we feel and think something in our mind individually and take action. But, the backbone of this book challenges our conviction. A premise of group dynamics is that every action is possible in a certain group. Based on this premise, the book clarifies how we have come to have a common sense of 'a mind in a body.' In this sense, this book is critically different from the books published so far even if the phrase, 'group dynamics,' was used in the title.
