Experiences of junior high school mathematics teachers in SPED curriculum amidst COVID-19 pandemic crisis [manuscript] : a basis for framework development / Cristina J. Villegas.

As a matter of fact, the study utilized selected Mathematics SPED teachers in the division of Bataan and Balanga which are identified according to their credentials and experiences under the pandemic crisis COVID 19. The setting of the study is in the locality of Bataan since the participants must be a certified Math SPED teacher in Bataan. The researcher utilized a purposive sampling technique as the sampling method of the study. Moreover, in terms of data gathering procedure the researcher utilized an in-depth one on one interview to the respondents of the study where the focus of the study was emphasized. In interpreting the data gathered it was transcribed manually and interpreted manually by the researcher using thematic analysis. Various themes were revealed in the study that gives meaning and color to the entire study. The following themes are the following: teaching Math for SPED learners are challenging, usually has internet problem and has a Communication Problem between the teacher and learner especially during difficult concepts. As for the best practices of the Mathematics SPED teachers, they utilize parent teacher collaboration, utilization of different online applications and platforms, different learning strategies and relating Mathematics to real life scenario. Overall experiences include usage of modular approach in teaching, importance of webinar and trainings for SPED education and freedom of modifying lesson according to the needs of the learners.
