Tiered learning instruction on students' performance in selected topics in statistics and probability at Hermosa National High School [manuscript] / Ernani D. Mañalac.
Material type: TextPublication details: Balanga City : BPSU, 2017.Description: 88 leaves ; 28 cmSummary: This research aimed to study the effects of Tiered Learning in improving students' academic performance in selected topics in Statistically and Probability. Quasi Experimental design was used in this study. Two sections in Hermosa National High School, ABM B and ABM A, were assigned as experimental and control groups. Both groups were tested before treatment. The experimental group was exposed to Tiered Learning Strategy, whereas the control group was taught using Traditional Teaching Methods. The instrument used on this study was Teacher-made test for Pretest and Posttest. Both tests consisted of 30 multiple choice questions (MCQ). The results were treated statistically to compare the results and to see if there was significant difference on the students' performance before and after treatment. Specifically, mean scores, frequency and paired sample and independent sample T-test were used. The finding showed that the academic performance of the participants in the experimental group improved significantly after the intervention as compared to the control group. Statistically, a mean difference of 3.4 on the pretest and posttest of the control group compared to the mean difference of 7.81 on the experimental group was evident. Mean scores on the posttest of each group increased implying that both methods were effective in improving performance of students. However, the statistical treatment of data showed that there was a significant difference on the mean scores of the participants in the control and experimental group which means that Tiered Learning instruction was more effective than Traditional method in improving the mathematics achievement of the students on selected topics in Statistics and Probability. Based on the findings, the researcher recommended that seminar and training on Tiered Learning should be encouraged by the administrators to make the teachers more adept with the strategy. Thus, employing this strategy in their classes will more effective and students' performance will be uplifted.Item type | Current library | Call number | Status | Date due | Barcode | |
