By: Material type: TextTextPublication details: Balanga City : BPSU, 2018.Description: 213 leaves ; 28 cmSubject(s): Summary: Emergency Care nurses as health service providers faced all sorts of issues and situations to which they react and deal with problems based on their personal and professional values The Philippine Board of Nursing proposed a resolution for the perusal of standards in practice, Philippine Professional Nursing Practice Standards (PPNPS) of 2017 provides the nursing practice domains in terms of value based nursing practice, knowledge driven nursing practice, outcome related professional relationship, and leadership and governance. Thus, these practices may alleviate or deviate existing policies in the hospitals. This motivated the researcher to conduct the study to explore the experience of emergency care nurses assigned in the emergency room at selected hospitals in Bataan on value- based caring and how this affects the delivery of safe and efficient patient care in a qualitative approach through facilitation of in-depth interview. Values-based caring is the delivery of professional nursing services to patients regardless of their health-illness status, gender, nationality, race, culture, religion or beliefs, all throughout their life expectancy. Consequently, emergency care nurses are equipped with knowledge, and technical skills acquired from nursing school, experiences from emergency room, and continuing education which guide them in the delivery of efficient and effective care. Meanwhile, the standards of value based caring in terms care of client, ethico-moral and legal practice, and the personal and professional values- which uplifts emergency care nurses towards better patient care. These values are meant not to restrict, but to expand the reach the care and allow the nurses to provide their patients with holistic care that not only attends to the patient's physical needs but also their emotional, social and cultural necessities. This research recommends that the proposed Philippine Professional Nursing Standards of 2017 proposed by the Philippine Board of Nursing should be developed into a concrete set of guidelines that can be integrated into the nursing education curriculum for proper implementation. It can also help disseminate this information through seminars, symposiums, trainings and other developmental programs.
