Although experts in clinical practice, experienced nurses may have difficulty transitioning to academia, primarily because they lack a formalized orientation process to the environment. Hence, this study aimed to develop and assess the psychometric properties of the proposed self-rated nurse-educator instructional competency scale. The respondents of this study were nurse-educators from different government-run and private colleges of nursing in Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, and Zambales who voluntarily participated in the study, regardless of employment status, number of teaching loads, and length of service in the college/institute during the 2nd Semester of Academic Year 2022-2023. The current study focused on determining the reliability (through the calculation of Cronbach's alpha) and validity (through content and construct validation processes) of the scale, following the guidelines set by Elliot et al. (2001). Findings suggested that the Self-Rated Nurse-Educator Instructional Competency Scale is a reliable and valid instrument that measures instructional competency of nurse-educators. The said scale is composed of 20 items which pertain to the needed instructional competency of educators in the baccalaureate nursing program. This can be used by both private and government-run colleges of nursing to determine nurse- educators' instructional competency. This can be a springboard for future capability-building programs that can help nurse-educators in their chosen field.
