Material type: TextPublication details: Balanga City : BPSU, 2023.Description: xii, 132 pp. ; 28 cmSubject(s): Summary: This study was conducted to assess the necessity of an urban drainage master plan in the Municipality of Dinalupihan in the Province of Bataan, Philippines. Dinalupihan is a fast-growing municipality classified as a first-class municipality with a total land area of more than 9 hectares and a population of over 118,200. It is known for its agricultural lands and resources, making it a prime location for agro-industrial investments. The study was initiated due to the municipality's frequent experiences of flooding and inundation caused by its proximity to two major rivers, the Colo River in the south and the Baltic River in the east. These flooding events cause significant damage to both public and private infrastructure and hinder the municipality's socio-economic development. To address the flooding issues and support the municipality's vision of becoming a model agropolis in Central Luzon, the Local Government Unit has been working to improve the drainage system by seeking assistance from the Provincial and National governments through the Department of Public Works and Highways. It was concluded that the preparation of an urban drainage master plan was critical for the expected future urban expansion and the successful implementation of flood mitigation projects. The urban drainage master plan is a planning tool that anticipates future urban developments and provides provisions to address them. However, the implementation of a master plan can be challenging due to several factors, such as financial problems and the danger of legal disputes in property acquisition. The study aimed to highlight the significance of a master plan, particularly in the Municipality of Dinaluphan, and how it can address the flooding issues and improve the municipality's socio-economic development. The study found the following results: On the Present Status of Drainage System in Dinalupihan Bataan. The expert agreement on the current status of drainage system showed an overall almost perfect agreement, with a 95% confidence range. On the Necessity of an Urban Drainage Master Plan. The study revealed that an urban drainage master plan was necessary for the Municipality of Dinalupihan to address its flooding issues and support its socio-economic development. The master plan would also improve the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of future infrastructures and provide a comprehensive solution to the flooding problem. In conclusion, the study emphasized the significance of an urban drainage master plan in the Municipality of Dinaluphan. The implementation of a master plan would address the flooding issues, support the municipality's socio-economic development, and provide a comprehensive solution to the problem. The study also provided valuable insights into the challenges and benefits of implementing an urban drainage master plan, which can be useful for other municipalities facing similar challenges.Item type | Current library | Call number | Status | Date due | Barcode | |
