520 | _aThe study aimed to assess the level of practices on school canteen hygiene of selected private and secondary schools in Bataan during the School Year 2017-2018 as inputs for policy enhancement. The study raised 671 individuals, of which six private secondary schools and ten public secondary schools were selected as respondents. In light of the study's findings, the researcher concluded that the private school canteens had land areas of 41 to 80 square meters, located at the side of the school, had 4 to 5 canteen employees, and catering less than 500 students per day. Meanwhile, the public school canteens had land areas of 41 to 80 square meters also, located at the side of the school, had 4 to 5 canteen employees, but catering 1,000 to 1,499 students per day. The study shows that private secondary school canteens provide enough space, located in areas that are easily accessible to the clientele, having a sufficient number of employees compared to the relatively small number of students catered daily. Comparatively, the public school canteens provided small space, located on areas accessible to the clientele, having an insufficient number of canteen employees compared to the relatively significant number of students catered daily. Selected private and public secondary school canteens in Bataan practiced personal hygiene to a great extent, as observed by faculty members, students, and canteen employees themselves. However, both of them practiced personal hygiene to a moderate extent in attending food handling training and seminars. Selected private and public secondary school canteens in Bataan practiced hygiene practices in terms of food preparation, packaging, serving, and storing to a great extent, as observed by faculty members, students, and canteen employees themselves | ||
