520 | _aArt-Based Activities in Teaching Biology 9 focused on comparing the academic performance of Grade 9 Science Technology and Engineering students of Hermosa National High School under Arts-Based Activity Group (ABAG) and the Non-Arts-Based Activity Group (NABAG) on the identified least mastered topic in Biology. Sequential Explanatory was employed in the conduct of the study. The quantitative data obtained from the results in pretests and post-test were treated using Mean, Standard Deviation, Dependent and Independent t-test. On the other hand, qualitative data were obtained from the students' interviews and narrations of experiences. Students' artworks were analyzed using content analysis. Relationship, pattern and application were the categorical schemes noted in the outputs of the study. The results showed that performance of the ABA Group significantly improved after the conduct of the study while the data obtained from the pretests and post-tests of NABA Groups noted that there was no notable improvement on the NABAG after the experiment. Future researches are encouraged to conduct similar study but it is recommended to consider the economic status of the students since the conduct of Art-Based Activities requires a lot of financial considerations. Use of local materials for the study may be recommended. | ||
