490 1 _aLEADERSHIP APPROACHES AND MANAGEMENT SKILLS OF WOMEN ADMINISTRATORS: IMPLICATIONS TO INSTITUTIONS' GENDER AND DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
520 _aThe study aimed to determine the relationship between the leadership approaches and management skills of women administrators in selected State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) in Region III during Academic Year 2014-2015. It is delimited to selected SUCs in Region III namely: the four (4) campuses of Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU), Bulacan State University (BulSU), Central Luzon State University (CLSU) ,Don Honorio Ventura Technological State University (DHVTSU), Tarlac State University (TSU), Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology(NEUST) and Ramon Magsaysay Technological University (RMTU). The respondents of the study were comprised of fifty-two (52) women administrators of these universities and six hundred twenty three (623) faculty members rated the women administrators regarding their leadership and management skills. A modified questionnaire was used as the main instrument in data gathering. The data gathered were analyzed using statistical software PASW Statistics 18, previously known as SPSS for Windows. The study also utilized frequency and percentage, weighted mean, Mann Whitney U Test, Independent Samples T-test, Correlation and Regression Analysis. On the basis of the data gathered after which were analyzed and interpreted, the findings revealed that there were significant relationship between the leadership approaches and management skills of the women administrators and that there was a significant difference on the perceptions of the women administrators and the faculty members regarding the former's leadership approaches and management skills. vii In view of the foregoing findings, the following were recommended: administrators constant monitoring and evaluation of their performance and upgrading a current trends in leadership and management; leaders' attendance in advance education; attendance to international trainings and seminars; Psychodynamic approach, Skills Inventory and Ethics Leadership be overemphasized in the academe for the administrators and faculty members better understanding of these concepts as well as for the acquisition of these skills; a thorough evaluation of the efficiency and effectiveness of the leaders be conducted using standard level of measurement; the Gender and Development (GAD) Programs of different universities be intensified for adding more equality in the workplace and the conduct of a comparative study between male and female leaders for merging of strengths in the organization.
