Background music on the test performance in Mathematics of select students in grade II : [manuscript] Solomon four group design / Ariel V. Macalinao

By: Material type: TextTextSeries: Publication details: Balanga City : BPSU, 2019.Description: ix, 115 pp. ; 28 cmSubject(s): Summary: A Solomon-four group research design was utilized to determine the effectiveness of background music on the students' test performance in mathematics. Particularly, the researcher randomly selected a total of 80 students from Orani National High School - Main and Holy Rosary Parochial Institute to answer the test in select topics of Basic Calculus. Teacher-made tests were conducted to the respondents to determine the effects of background music in the students' mathematics test performance. Descriptive statistics such frequency counts, percentage and mean, and inferential statistics such independent-sample ttest, paired-sample t-test and ANOVA were utilized in treating the data gathered. The study conducted at ONHS-Main using the pretest and posttest scores revealed that there are significant differences. The second set of experimental and controlled group displayed the same significant results when their posttests were compared. The study conducted at HRPI with a background music played yielded the highest results which signified that "love and alternative rock" genre affected students' performance. Generally, the students who received background music during the test on the first phase of the study performed better than the students who did not according to the data obtained using the Solomon-four group design. The study which genre of music is the most effective was also determined using the computed mean rank score.
